ROBERTO'S HARMONIOUS VOCATION
A vocation for harmony which we will lovingly continue
Harmony, I think, is one of the words I most associate with my grandfather.
He often used to say that you need to have harmony, in the workplace and in your life.
Harmony is also what he always sought in his designs and in his work as a craftsman.
It was with great sorrow that we said goodbye to him on August 8th.
Roberto was a great teacher, a guide, an example, but also and above all a man, a husband, a father, and for me a beloved and attentive grandfather. At his side, I had the joy of working and assisting in the running of the company, sharing his vision and responsibility and introducing innovative elements which, in the present day, could further strengthen and enhance the expressive capacity of both the Venetian style, which he loved so much, and of all the other re-editions.
He built so much, he was a man who lived with passion and enthusiasm, curiosity and positivity in his work as a reason for living.
He never stopped recreating, always thinking of new versions, creating a wealth of beautiful re-editions; and for each one he had a story, a memory, an anecdote.
He faithfully replicated the greats of the past, he did not create, he was keen to emphasise that he was not an artist.
He was a great craftsman, proud to be so and to be part of the centuries-old Florentine craft tradition where, at the age of 14, he began his adventure.
We loved him and remember him with love.
All of us in the company will sorely miss him, a charismatic, strong, brilliant, charming presence; we will miss his kindness and his elegance, his unquenchable vocation for harmony, his watchful and bright eyes, capable of adding a swirl or adjusting a curl, right up to the last moment, striving for perfection.
And we will lovingly pursue his story, his narrative, which was - and always will be - ours too.
