PATIENT HANDS AND A LIGHT TOUCH

It takes a light touch.

As light as gold leaf, an impalpable and precious veil created by hammering gold between two sheets of leather, which will then be used in illuminating curls and scrolls.

It takes patient, delicate hands, able to follow and accompany the curves and unevenness of the decoration on the sinuous and complex surfaces created by the carving,  patiently following all the steps before  the artefact is brought to life.

Priming, that is, the preparation of the background with natural glues, then gilding with plaster, which is stripped away in various stages, and redefining the carving with the special chisel, then dusting and applying the Bole with a special brush.

And now is the magical moment of applying the gold itself: one of the highly delicate sheets is taken from the gold leaf Booklet using the gilder's knife and is passed over the cushion with the help of a soft breath of air. The leaf is held with a ball of cotton wool and delicately applied to the carving. Then,  the last fascinating phase with the agate stone, is the burnishing which makes the metal shiny, smooth and lustrous. 

And now the process is over. Gold, matt gold, silver, copper, the precious metals now shine on white, black, red, blue, glossy, patinated and waxed lacquers and watercolours, and give furniture, tables, chairs and frames a plasticity of harmony and absolute beauty with reflections and light.
